I wonder what's keeping Spike from eating the faceted columns lining the walls and snacking on the colored stones hanging from the ceiling in this Treecastle. He's got will power, but he's also absent minded sometimes.

Perhaps there's a subconscious thing going on about not eating the place he lives in?

Or maybe he doesn't realize the columns and stones are edible to him.

It may be a bit of both. It could be that the Tree has a way of making itself and its constructs unpalatable to dragons. Otherwise, the Tree would probably have become lunch a very long time ago. Unlike ponies, trees and rocks can't run away. Should I ask Spike? If I'm wrong, would he take that as an invitation to sample the rocks?
