Piaffle With Fluttershy

I went to Fluttershy's cottage today for tea and a quiet game of Piaffle. My game uses the old pony runes (the stamped script) so I also brought along Samule Lawnson's Whinnypiafficon of the Equestrian Language, which is the definitive dictionary for spelling in old pony runes.

We drank a lot of tea, quietly moved our tiles and consulted the whinnypiafficon. I won two games and Fluttershy beat me at one. She managed to put an eight letter word on the triple word score space, making over a hundred points in that one turn.

Piaffle?

I'm not familiar with that term.

Piaffle is derived from piaffe, to hit or dig at the ground with your hoof. It's also a dance move where a pony looks to be trotting but stays in one spot. Since the old pony written script was adapted from codified hoofprints piaffed in the dust or clay, piaffing is also synonymous with spelling. Piaffle is a spelling game where each player has seven random characters on square tiles with which they try to spell words.

Halloween... looks like Nightmare Night. Well, thanks! We'll have Nightmare Night soon, after the 3rd cut haying.

Oh, neat. Sounds a lot like Scrabble. Blank squares are awesome in that game.

Yep, Halloween. I like to use the whole month as an excuse to watch scary movies like The Thing and read horror novels.
